Have your University participated in "UI GreenMetric"?

The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking is an initiative of Universitas Indonesia which is being launched in 2010. The objective of UI GreenMetric is making efforts to reduce their carbon footprint and thus help combat global climate change. 

As we can look on the website greenmetric.ui.ac.id, they have a vision and mission to brings sustainable impacts to universities around the world:

Organizing annual World University Rankings on sustainability. Encouraging sustainability practices in universities around the world. Providing sustainability-related services for universities around the World. Facilitating international partnership on sustainability.

Why needs the ranking?

The aim of the ranking is as follows:

provide the result of an online survey regarding the current condition and policies related to Green Campus and Sustainability in Universities all over the world drawing the attention of university leaders and stakeholders, more attention will be given to combating global climate change, energy and water conservation, waste recycling, and green transportation. Universities are leading the way in this regard need to be identifiable

How to give the ranking?

Initially, the numeric data is collected from thousands of universities worldwide and process the data provided to arrive at a single score that reflects the efforts being made by the institution to implement environmentally friendly and sustainable policies and programs. Universities will be ranked according to this score.

On scoring, the UI Greenmetric has a set up of criteria and methodology that will be considered when scoring. There are 39 indicators and 6 criteria such as Setting and Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste (WS), Water (WR), Transportation (TR), and Education (ED).

Setting & Infrastructure (SI) is determined for More space for greenery and in safeguarding environment, as well as the campus sustainable development budget. Energy & climate change (EC) is determined for Increase the effort in using energy efficiency appliances and develop renewable energy. Waste (WS) is determined for Some programs and waste treatments (i.e., recycling program, toxic waste, organic and inorganic waste, etc). Water (WR) is determined for Decrease groundwater usage, increase conservation program, and protect the habitat. Transportation (TR) is determined for Transportation policy to limit the number of private vehicles, pedestrian. Education (ED) is determined for Courses, research, publication, website, report related to green and sustainability.

It’s easy! Universities can submit data by filling in our online survey form. On my university where I am study right now, President University. President University's UI GreenMetric ranking rose eight places from 69th to 61^st for national and still on rank 664 for International.
